G. S. Rowe Western Landscapes
A westerner by birth, habit, and outlook, G. S. (Gail) Rowe’s fascination with landscape painting stems from a lifetime of living, working, and traveling in the western United States. The scale, ever-changing color and light patterns, and the wide variety of ecosystems found in the Rocky Mountains and High Plains regions in particular have inspired his work. He strives to capture the subtlety and beauty even in the harshest of hardscrabble vistas, and to record the mostly impermanent signs of humanity upon ancient landscapes. Rowe’s objective in each work is to reveal to the viewer the excitement, beauty, and uniqueness that drew him to the scene.
